Early Nineties Metal

24 August 2010

This is the Iworkwithmusic.com Early nineties metal collage that seems to make the biggest dent in the Heavy Metal world. The forgotten songs from the forgotten bands who made a bigger move in the metal world than all of the mainstream metal bands put together.

Annihilator – Alice in hell

Overkill – Hello From The Gutter

Slayer – Raining Blood

Testament – Souls Of Black

Exodus – Bonded By Blood

Megadeth – Symphony Of Destruction

Sepultura – Arise

Anthrax – Indians

Suicidal Tendencies – You can’t bring me down

Sorry If you were expecting Metallica or Pantera or any main stream pudwagon band. This music was not in that Genre. Not at all. Yes classified but we can all hear there is a massive difference. The guitarists are better here in these bands, the drummers are better, and the singers suck. lol. it wasn’t about beinga good singer. It was about having a strong message and sounding like you mean it. Some musicians took it in the direction the 11 year old fans wanted, others just kept on steaming headed forward. So you see why some sounded stupid.

This is heavy Metal. The roots of what is now called Death metal, thrash metal Or any other metal out there.
There were hundreds of other metal bands that helped make a generation of angry kids happy and pacified with something as angry as them. But hey my page is only so long and well, back in those days I was just a kid I didn’t have the money to try them all.

So this is my 90′s rock choice. Yes some of the music here is from the late eighties, but they held up through to the nineties.

Four Seasons of Plague – Houston Band

Four Seasons of Plague

Local Houston death metal band currently the band has 4 members. It seems the vocalist has left the four Seasons of Plague. ( Can not help but think of the band The Four Seasons, as zombies)
The music really good.
Bottom Feeder – Music Video

I wish I could embed more music from them for you to listen to while you are here, because they are really good. But it seems for now all I can do is point you to their myspace account. Four Seasons of Plague . Give that a click and listen to their media player. They have really good deep sounds. “Man Among Sharks” has a Dime Bag sound to it. Kingdom, Kind of has a Slayer sound, but good. Slave to a Cannibal God, sounds like Cut Throat from Sepultura. Now I don’t mean it sounds just like it, just hits the same pleasure button in my brain.Sirens Reminds me of the first time I heard Battery from Metallica. Well through the intro section, Then it gets really good.
I have to skip ahead and say I really like “Lilith’ Well the band part. The vocals are a bit much.So much it sounds really cheesy. but the rest of the band sounds great. The song “Work Of Micheal” jumps out of the box sounding great with a punch through sound. but the vocals again. Everytime the vocals stop, The band just rips it up and makes up for it.

Probably the best band from Houston I have heard in some time. Best Death Metal band I have heard from Houston, yet.
The lead guitarist is amazing. – Eein
The other guitarist – D (his name needs a : at the beginning)
Bass guitarist – Dan
Drums – Scott

All in all I give Four Seasons of Plague a 9/10
Plenty of rage.

Can’t wait to hear more.

Sexion8 Double Header Weekend

If you haven’t noticed, I am really into unsigned bands and musicians with no major labels hanging over them. More than that I like live bands. I like to hear bands that no one has heard of and find some unknown band that is better than the best of the what top 20 or what ever. I have found that band. Well in the fun category. Sexion 8 takes it all.

Great way to end the month of June. Show up to see SeXi8n play live. Get drunk and most likely a shirt or two will come off.

These guys are all members of other bands that have good following and really good music. Together they just go out for the fun and play their favorite songs and well, they kinda get swamped with women. James in Drakonas/Rich from Filthy Rich/Rod from Beaver Crossing/

It’s a weekend bash to not miss. If you are in Houston this weekend, you have to see this show. This is the Houston show of Houston shows.

Great rock band.

Broca44 Emo band

Really good music

Sounds like Tool, authority Zero and System of a down all in one. For an EMO band, They sound kind of tough.

A Farewell Fire – Hard Rock

17 May 2010

Ok I listen to this while at work drowning out the rest of the crew I work with. My head phones are going to be pumping this daily.

A Farewell Fire Bio:

Formed in the late summer of 2004, A FAREWELL FIRE is a melodically heavy creation made of four separate parts. A musical machine that pulls the rock community to another level. Each of its four members bring together different backgrounds of music to form a raw and unique sound. With the combined songwriting of Eddie Raccioppi on guitar and Bill Moros on vocals, and with the technical workings of bassist Mike Zagel and drummer Ray “Rockstar,” the lineup was complete. The music of A FAREWELL FIRE carries the messages of life, love, hate and everything in between. With songs like: For A Lifetime, Stained Glass Eyes, and Poison, it is clear that this band centers itself around its pride, power, and delivery of emotion. From its members to its music, A FAREWELL FIRE is as appealing to listen to, as they are to witness live. Their shows are filled with an unstoppable energy that calls your attention. With the power of their sing along choruses and bone crushing rhythm section, the band takes no prisoners with its live show delivery. A must see.

My Sweet Glory – unsigned EMo punk

17 May 2010

Scrounging around unsigned.com I stumbled across another good sounding band. To bad it looks like they are disband. Last activity on their myspace was in 07. That is quite a while. A long while before the whole ” I don’t like myspace anymore, I’m strictly facebook” change over to be exact by two years. lol pardon that little rant. but here we go gang another good band, you have to go to their unsigned page to listen, their music is stripped from myspace now.
