My friends and I tend to go to a lot of local shows, Heck most of my friends are in bands, so I see alot of bands that play the same night as my friends. when this happens I get to see many great bands. Bad part is, after a week or so I forget all about that band. No matter how great they are, I forget about them till I see them again. So to make it available to me at later dates, and available to the rest of the world, I write about those bands on this site. I welcome anyone who gets moved by a good local band, to mention them and the place they played. It is always a good courtesy move to link back to that band’s website or facebook or twitter. I mean if you are going to tell the world about them, leave the world a chance to locate them.
See many musicians have not evolved to the largest musical resource out there, yet. They do not realize just how many resources are on the internet for them to get seen or heard by the public, and maybe the record label they need. For god sakes people, if you are in a band and want to get known, to keep people in touch with your schedule, get a fricken twitter account so you can make a last second band plug and tell people you are on in an hour at what ever location you are playing. I am sure you have a busy schedule, but come on. Seven seconds to post a tweet with your cell phone.. Get on myspace and update it, tell people what your far schedule is. do the same with facebook.. actually facebook kind of sucks… Why bother. lol.
Ok back on topic.
In down times when i am not at a show, I will just post a few musical “how too” posts teachi ng up and coming musicians how to make make it somewhere other than a simi popular dive, like for f’s sake sell your music for 12 cents on itunes.. that is nearly twice the amount you would make off of a full cd if you got a record label. main trick is get known on the internet, and sell your stuff on the internet… look up Jonathan Coulton.
Feel free to write about music here.
